PROJECTS - AQUATIC CENTERS

Pelican Bay
Edmond, Oklahoma

The city of Edmond, Oklahoma wanted to update and modernize their aquatic facility. Carrothers Construction worked in conjunction with W.L. McNatt for a successful completion on the renovation of the facility. The project consisted of the following:

  • 11,244 Square Foot Leisure Pool & Exercise/Lap Pool
  • A 1,256 Square Foot Water Playground
  • 9,320 Square Foot of buildings
  • 29,706 Square Foot of Pool Deck
  • 144 car parking lot
One body of water, with new state of the art amenities, would serve all ages and aquatic programming. A large outdoor recreation area was included with a water playground feature that focused on automated sprays and a participatory play area. Access into the pool was made easy with a zero beach entry. Near the pool area is a splash down pool featuring two 150-foot waterslides. One slide is an open flume and the other closed for more of a thrill. The leisure pool area has been connected to a lap pool that hosts six 25-yard lanes with anchors to attach a play feature when lanes are not being used. A twelve feet water depth was built to allow for diving on a one-meter board. In addition, new octagon shaped bathhouses were designed to host showers, lockers and family changing areas. The facility also features a renovated concession area to help complete this successful project.

City of Clive Iowa

The city of Clive, Iowa decided to build a new Aquatic Center for the benefit of their citizens. We teamed with Larson & Larson Construction of Des Moines, Iowa and created a joint venture company "Construction Ventures I". The joint venture approach gave us the advantage of having a local general contractor to handle the site work and building package components of the project. This allowed us the opportunity to focus on the pool building and mechanical aspects of the project on which we excel.

The new Outdoor Aquatic facility includes one shallow pool having a water surface area of 6,270 square feet, one lap pool having a water surface area 4,060 square feet including diving area and plunge area, and one lazy river having a water surface area of 5,700 square feet. Pool features include one-meter springboard, water slides, water spray features, sunshades, benches, themed concrete play features and other related items. Building structures include a 5,097 Square foot bathhouse/Concessions/Office/Admissions building, a 2,805 square feet Filter building, and a 1,944 square feet special Events building.
