PROJECTS - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

Perryton, Texas

The city of Perryton, Texas wanted to update and modernize their Wastewater Treatment Plant. This project entailed the construction of 2 new clarifier basins with equipment, Influent & Effluent Pump Stations, Grit Removal structure with separator and classifier, and splitter box/re-circulation wet-well. Carrothers also has provided and installed 3 new blowers with associated piping, modifications to the existing digester pump room, demolition and installation of new clarifier equipment at the existing final clarifier, and modification to the existing trickling filter basin. Extensive yard piping and approximately 2100 L.F. of 15" effluent were also included in this project.

Ultraviolet Disinfection Project
Emporia, Kansas

The work under this project consisted of modifications to the existing wastewater treatment plant. Included was a modification of the existing final clarifier sludge piping to discharge to the plant head works in lieu of the existing sludge thickener/digesters; upgrading the existing vortex grit removal system; provision of an ultraviolet disinfection system and a new building to house the system; construction of a storm water holding basin and pumping station; modification to the existing effluent pumping station control weirs and pump controls to accommodate a reduced wet well level; and construction of a cast-in-place concrete cascade aeration structure at the existing plant outfall. Electrical modifications included replacement of the incoming plant switchgear; replacement of six existing transformers; replacement of panel boards in the existing operations and repair buildings; and replacement of power circuits.

Lincoln Water System Expansion of Water Supply, Treatment, and Transmission Facilities
Ashland Nebraska

The City of Ashland, Nebraska sought to rehabilitate the existing 60 million gallon per day water treatment plant.

The contract that was awarded to Carrothers Construction included demolition, interior and exterior building construction; concrete rehabilitation; interior and exterior utility construction; header pipe, valve and operator replacements; chemical feed systems installation; compressor remanufacture; replacement of electrical power supply, secondary power distribution and lighting systems; replacement of HVAC equipment; membrane roofing installation; retaining wall replacement; instrumentation and control equipment installation; and all other work with related appurtenances as was indicated on the drawings and specified at the existing water treatment plant in Ashland, Nebraska.

Wastewater Treatment Plan Improvements Phase II
Winfield, Kansas

The City of Winfield modified their water treatment process and added capacity to handle anticipated increased flows. The contract awarded to Carrothers was to modify the existing grit removal building, two existing primary clarifier to aeration basins, the existing primary sludge pump station to a recycle pump station, convert two existing aeration basins to aeration tanks, existing final clarifiers, and existing anaerobic digester to anoxic aeration facility. In the converted aeration tanks, Carrothers installed fine bubble membrane grid aeration systems.

In addition, Carrothers built a new blower building with three centrifugal air blowers and three positive air displacement blowers, a new final clarifier and a new ultra violet disinfection building with a vertical open-channel UV disinfection system.
